Piano Duet

This crazy jazz style piano duet started as a very simple melody. With a bit of work, I developed it into a piece. I’m not sure exactly what genre it is, I’ll let you decide. The simple title may suggest an elegant piece – it’s quite different. It does, however, represent the simple underlying melody throughout the piece.

Spring

A classical style to represent the beauty of Spring. A small selection of orchestral instruments with a simple but pleasant melody. The opening section represents the new life and rebirth at springtime while subtly introducing the piece. The second phrase uses a very typical chord progression but lacks a strong melody making this piece suitable as background music. A contrasting middle phrase uses pizzicato strings to symbolise the young, delicate life during Spring. The final section of the music is a slight variation of the first, to finish with the strong idea of rebirth, and strong growth. The piece was recorded at 120 bmp and is to be performed in an Allegro style, “fast and lively.” I experimented with a few simple, conventional methods in this piece mainly involving the structure and variation.

Time is of the Essence

An instrumental piece, inspired by “La Villa Strangiato.” I composed this piece in one day and overall, I’m fairly pleased with it. One day, I may try and record it using real instruments because General Midi doesn’t do it justice, and it’s not nice to listen to. Especially the synthesised guitars. I focused a lot on the drums in this piece; something which I have often neglected before. I’m not a drummer and I’ve never owned a drum kit, so it was interesting to see if I could come up with various drum patterns and fit them in with the other layers of music.
