This particular USB hub is designed to sit underneath (or on top of) the Mac mini. It has 2 ports on the back and 2 on the front and comes with a power cable so you can plug it in. This is useful when you are connecting peripherals that don’t provide their own power -- like a webcam.

It’s a really nice hub. It looks good underneath my Mac mini. I was unsure of whether it would look out of place or ruin the simple look of the Mac but it doesn’t: it’s an improvement to my setup. Also, although it’s very light, it grips the desk quite well and doesn’t slip around when you pull USB cables out of it like I thought it would. The Mac mini does easily slide around on top of it though which can be annoying. The VGA cable in the back of my Mac pulls it to the right which means it does not stay straight on the Hub but it’s not noticeable and I can live with it.

It’s only a USB Hub but it works as expected. There’s not really much else I can say about it apart from the fact that the ports on the front are so useful it’s unbelievable. It does, however, only leave 2 ports on the back which isn’t really a lot -- and you wouldn’t want permanent cables coming from the front of the Mac mini (it would look a mess).

Overall it’s a great hub and is proving to be very useful for quickly connecting cameras and flash drives to my Mac mini. One of the best things about it, is that it was only £4.99 from Amazon so even if it was rubbish, I couldn’t have complained much. I would have even been quite happy if I’d payed £20 for it!
