Free webcam Software for Windows
Many online broadcasters or streamers, like myself, use software to add effects to their video. An example is: their website address, chat and/or the topic of the chat. Users of Mac OS X may use a free piece of software called CamTwist, however, users of Windows are normally less fortunate and are forced to pay for software like WebcamMax. WebcamMax is powerfull software for adding effects to video streams. But, thanks to a kind viewer of jak-eTvee Live, I have found a free alternative for Windows. SuperWebcam! The viewer (winkel_1978), gave me the url of the website so I could download it for free – http://superwebcam.com. It’s less powerful but it’s free and has no limitations, does not encouage you to register or donate or put a logo over your video! Installation is easy and it is compatible with most software that uses a web cam!
There are, as you would expect, a few problems. First of all, it does not record audio if you use the built in recording feature! In my opinion it makes the whole feature useless unless your planning to record your desktop without narration or use another program for audio. The other thing I don’t like about it is that every time you open it, it opens your web browser and takes you to their homepage, and to make it worse, there is nothing useful there! I did, however, make use of this annoyance. I set SuperWebcam to run on Windows Startup, so everytime I log on Flock, my web browser, automatically runs!
SuperWebcam takes your video, adds real time effects to it, and then displays itself, like a real webcam would, in list of webcams in places like Windows Live Messenger, Yahoo! Messenger, etc… I highly recommends this program if you want to add real time effects to your video, especially if you stream or broadcast over the internet. The Software can even be used if your not doing anything live (i.e. IM or Streaming), because it can save editing time by adding text/images or your desktop.
